Northcote has a strong tradition of welcoming participation from parents, carers, and other volunteers in many different aspects of school life. We aim to work in paretnership with you to ensure that your child enjoys a successful primary school education and grows in the best person they can be.
At Northcote Primary School, we believe that every parent and carer plays a crucial role in shaping our vibrant learning environment. We encourage everyone to lend a hand a get acitively involved in a way that suits their interests and avaliability. From assting in the classroon and participating in special events to joing us on excursions and camps, there are countless opportunities to make a meaningful impact. Our classroom and specialist teachers will make specific requests for assistance throughout the year so keep a look out!
To ensure a safe and supportive environment for all, volunteers must complete annually:
- an induction briefing which covers Child Safety
- Occupational Health and Safety induction
- provide a current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- sign and return the NPS Child Safety Induction agreement
We value and appreciate your support, as it enhances our educational programs and fosters a strong connection between home and school. If you're interested in volunteering, please speak with your child’s classroom teacher about the many ways you can contribute. Together, we can build a stronger school community and make a lasting difference in our students' lives.
Camp Volunteers
In addition to completing the induction briefing, volunteers who have been selected by the school to attend camp participate in a more detailed camp briefing of their roles and responsibilities.
Working With Children Clearance (WWCC)
To be able to assist in classrooms and atttend excursions, volunteers need a current Working with Children Check. All people involved in child-related work are subject to a screening process. This process is mandatory as a means of keeping all children in our school safe.
The process for applying for a Working with Children Check in Victoria is completed online. It is free for Volunteers and is valid for 5 years. Please visit the Working With Children Check website.
