Cyber Safety

As an eSmart school, we are committed to educating our community about safe and responsible online behaviour. eSmart is a long-term program designed to track, monitor, and prevent bullying and cyberbullying in schools. This tailored program aims to create positive change in the school environment.

We encourage everyone in our school community to continue promoting eSmart behaviours, both at school and at home. If you become aware of any incidents of bullying, cyberbullying, or risky online behaviour, please contact the school by phone at (03) 9481 0009 or email us at northcote.ps@education.vic.gov.au

eSafety Commissioner's iParent

The iParent provides guidance for using safety settings on your family’s web-connected devices, tips for choosing movies and games and strategies for keeping young people safe online.

Blocking explicit results on Google

Google’s SafeSearch setting can help filter explicit search results, such as pornography, when your child is using the internet. While SafeSearch is not 100% accurate, it is a useful tool for reducing exposure to inappropriate content. You can enable SafeSearch as a parental control on mobile phones, tablets, and computers. Follow these three easy steps to activate SafeSearch on your child’s devices.

Limiting your child's digital footprint

When sharing your child’s photos or blogging about them, it’s important to consider how these images and information contribute to their digital footprint. The decisions you make today can affect your child's online presence in the future. For more details, read this article from the Australian Parenting website.

Games, apps and social networking

The Australian Government’s eSafety Commissioner website offers quick guides to popular social media sites and apps.
